Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you today. Over the last two weeks, my educational assistant and I have been implementing new and engaging ways to have our students learn their sight words. I think we have discovered some activities that have been successful and I wanted to to share them with you, so here we go!sight wordsMagic Sight Words
The first activity is a #pinterest inspired idea! Mrs. Saenz, came up with this idea, it is so simple, yet magical! The kids were so excited to reveal the magic word, read it, then write it! I seriously haven’t seen my kids wait their turn anxiously to go to our sight word center! I told the kids, “Today you will be magicians, on this white sheet of paper, you have some magic words that amazing readers and writers can read. All you have to do is color over the white box to reveal your magical sight word, then AbraCadaBra… read it, then write it! Hearing them talk with each other about what sight words they each revealed, was music to my ears! Here is all you need for this activity.
Materials:
  • White Construction Paper
  • White Crayons
  • Paint or markers
Then have students do the rest, for variation, you can have students write the words themselves, trade with a partner, then their partner reveals the “magic sight word.”

The next activity was one of those ideas you come up with on the fly! We recently ran out of copy paper at our school, so I couldn’t make copies of my usual activities. I had to think fast, fast, as a snap and sometimes those ideas seem to be the most engaging with true authentic learning! Once again the kids loved this activity! The best part was hearing them sing the alphabet, to make sure they were placing back their letters in alphabetical order!
Materials:
  • Sentence strips folded up into 1/4 (write one word per section, then cut them out), then draw picture of a dice with numbers 1-6
  • Regular sheet of paper folded into 1/3
  • Magnetic letters or letter tiles
  • Dice
  • Dry erase markers and eraser
  • Plastic Covers for re-use
Directions:
  • Students roll a Dice, find the matching word with the same number.
  • Then they read it, build, and write it!

Since these activities have been such a success, I’ve actually created a forever freebie printable, to go right along with them! Enjoy, and may your students have a #magical experience learning their sight words! Here you go~  🙂

Scrapbooking and came across these “old” pictu Scrapbooking and came across these “old” pictures of myself. As I reflect and think about my life up until now, what would I tell my 25-year-old self….
🤍I’d say:
“Mija, breathe. You’re stronger than you know, and your story is just beginning. Trust God’s timing, don’t rush the process, and never doubt your worth. The setbacks you’re facing now will one day be the reason someone else keeps going. Keep going, your future self is so proud of you. You’ll raise brilliant children, stand before classrooms and conferences, and walk boldly into rooms you never imagined of. Keep going. God is with you every step, every struggle, every sacred win.” 💪🏽✨🌻

What’s your story? What would you tell your 25-year-old self? 🤍

From the NEA-New Mexico Leadership Academy, to celebrating my son’s 21st birthday, sending Aviannah to Youth Camp, soaking in the LEAD Women’s Conference with my beautiful mom and church family, attending the NM NBCT Network Officers’ Retreat, and squeezing in my sister’s 40th birthday—this month has been a whirlwind of blessings! 😮‍💨

My mom raised us to be strong, unique, and yes amazing. Thank you, Mom! We love you deeply. And Happy Anniversary to you and Dad, your love continues to inspire us.

Through it all, I just have to say: I LOVE MY LIFE ✨

Learning, reflecting, applying! •Leadership is Learning, reflecting, applying!

•Leadership isn’t about washing your hands of challenges and getting “rid of people so easily”— it’s about rolling up your sleeves and mentoring through them. When leaders avoid hard conversations, they create cultures of gossip, favoritism, and fear.

✨True leadership is about guiding people, not guarding your ego. Let’s build spaces where accountability, growth, transparency, and courage lead the way.

Today I was one of several teachers honored with t Today I was one of several teachers honored with the Jose Serna Foundation Teacher Impact Award, nominated by my former student, Joel.

In my years of teaching, I’ve been blessed to receive several awards — but this one… this one brought me to tears.
Because when a student, years later, says you made a difference, it hits your heart in a way nothing else can.

Joel, thank you for seeing me, for remembering, and for reminding me why I am a teacher.
It was never about recognition, it is about love, belief, and the hope that somehow, something I gave would stay with my students long after the school year ended. Today, you showed me that it did.
And for that, I will carry this moment forever. Keep shinning Joel, your voice matters! Sigue adelante!

Generational faith is a powerful gift—one that is lived, not just taught. As I reflect on 2 Timothy 1:5–6, I’m reminded of the strong women in my life whose faith lit the path for me, my grandmother and mother.

This verse from 2 Timothy resonates deeply with my heart because it reflects the LEGACY OF FAITH passed down through generations of strong, praying women in my OWN life. 💝 Just like Timothy was shaped by the sincere faith of his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice, I too have been profoundly formed by the steadfast faith of my grandmother and my mother.

Their quiet strength, their whispered prayers, their unwavering trust in God during both storms and seasons of joy—these have built the foundation of my own faith. I can still remember the way my grandma spoke life through Scripture, the way my mother modeled grace, resilience, and love through every hardship. These women didn’t just believe in God—they LIVED their faith, and their example now echoes in how I raise my own children. ✨

This verse reminds me that the gift of faith is not only inherited, but also ignited. I am called to fan it into flame—to live boldly, serve faithfully, and love deeply, just as they did. And now, I pray that same sincere, burning faith will dwell in my children, carrying on the legacy of faith that was planted generations ago. For His, your Glory and Honor ABBA Father!

To my grandma and mom, Thank you❣️
✨ Happy 14th birthday to our beautiful baby girl ✨ Happy 14th birthday to our beautiful baby girl — You are filled with grace, strength, and a spirit that shines brighter with each passing year. Your middle name reminds us of your purpose — a Princess who leads and commands — and we see it in the way you carry yourself, the love you give, and the determination in your heart.

💕Watching you grow into the young woman God created you to be is the greatest gift. We are so proud of who you are and who you’re becoming. Keep walking in truth, in boldness, and in the knowledge that you are deeply loved.

“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” – Psalm 46:5

✨Keep shining, sweet girl. The world is better with you in it.
Love you — endlessly ❣️
